Just a short drive inland from the golden sands of the famous Sunshine Coast beaches is the majestic hinterland, with amazing lookouts, nature trails and scenic waterfalls to be found.

From your Maroochydore accommodation here at Elouera Tower you’ll be perfectly located to hit the road and discover the very best waterfalls on the Sunshine Coast! Here’s just a couple of the highlights …

BUDERIM ‘SERENITY’ FALLS

Just 15 minutes from Maroochydore, the Buderim Falls, also called Serenity Falls, is a lovely spot to visit year-round but is particularly impressive after rainfall.

Located within the Buderim Forest Park, access to the waterfall via one of two paths:

From Harry’s Lane off Lindsey Road, there is a stroller and wheelchair accessible 600m long elevated boardwalk through beautiful sub-tropical rainforest. This walkway does end partway to the falls and you will then need to continue over more rugged terrain to the base of the waterfalls. This section of the path isn’t wheelchair or stroller suitable.

From Quorn Close, there is a steep 350m bush track that leads down to the top of the waterfalls. It’s a quick walk but a moderate level of fitness is required to navigate the numerous stairs on this path.

GARDNERS FALLS

Just a flat 800 meter return walk from the carpark, Gardners Falls, is a good option for a family day out.  On the track to the main waterfall you’ll find a number of shallow rock pools that are perfect for splashing about. These pools increase in size until you reach the main attraction; Gardners Falls.

Gardners Falls is located at Obi Obi Creek Maleny, so while you’re in the region why not stop in and grab some of the gorgeous cheeses and other dairy products that the region is known for, and enjoy a relaxed picnic on the banks of the Obi Obi Creek.

KONDALILLA FALLS

The Kondalilla Falls are located on the traditional land of the Gubbi Gubbi people in Kondalilla National Park. Its name, which means ‘rushing water’ in the local Aboriginal language, reflects exactly what you can expect from the falls during the summer wet season.

The impressive 90-metre waterfall is accessible from the Kondalilla Falls car park, walk 100-metres downhill (with steps) to a large grassed picnic area with barbecues, picnic tables and toilets. Follow the Picnic Creek circuit, walking through rainforest and open forest to a cool rock pool at the top of the falls. Continue on the Kondalilla Falls circuit, descending into lush rainforest as you walk down to the valley for the best waterfall view at the base of the falls.

There are over 300 stairs on the Kondalilla Falls circuit so you need to be reasonably fit and allow enough time to enjoy and complete this steep walk in daylight hours. This walk is a Grade 3 track (formed track, may have short steep hills and many steps, some experience recommended).

Some other waterfalls you could explore on the Sunshine Coast include: Booloumba Falls in the Conondale National Park,  Wappa Falls near Yandina, Robinson Falls in Nambour, Gheerulla Falls Mapleton, Baxter Falls north of Flaxton and Mapleton Falls.
